This is Nhojj. ******************************************************************************* He started singing as a child in the Caribbean-first in Guyana and then in Trinidad. Performing on local radio shows, in school, church, and even once for the president, gave him the opportunity to hone his talents and develop a unique style. From the beginning audiences responded to him, his quiet nature, and his beautiful voice. But there was always sadness, he was withdrawn, a loner- shy and insecure. This plagued him up until his 20's. ******************************************************************************* Then he met a girl, a girl who made him feel strong and secure, a girl who took away the sadness, a girl who made him smile again. A girl who broke his heart! It was at this point, while trying to make sense of confusion in his life, that he began to write and record. He didn't know anything at first; he just turned the knobs on his digital recorder until the music felt good. Late at night, he would write, record, arrange, re-arrange and mix songs. His debut CD-I've been waiting for you is 2 years of experimenting with classical, acoustic, r&b, ambient sounds, and funk. The music is raw and passionate, it doesn't have the polished sound of other radio friendly tunes, but you feel everything he sings. ******************************************************************************* It was at that point; after devoting 2 years of himself to something he truly loved, that he realized he couldn't look to other's to calm his insecurities and fears. Relationships wouldn't do it, family and friends wouldn't do it. Only he could do it- he had to look within and find the strength. ******************************************************************************* Now he focuses on revealing himself to each audience member. "We all have demons we try to hide, I try to expel them through music. That's my gift to the world- I pray you enjoy my work."

Press Reviews I heard a couple of Nhojj's tunes on mp3.com several months ago and was impressed with his artistry and musical arrangements. Yesterday, I received the entire CD, which is entitled "I've been waiting." ******************************************************************************* I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Nhojj is one of the most unique and talented artists that I have ever heard. He may be blessed with musical genius (I know, a pretty bold statement, huh?). ******************************************************************************* Lets backup for a second. Nhojj wields an emotion filled falsetto similar to Maxwell's and vocal arrangements that cover the gamut from funk to Broadway show tunes. ******************************************************************************* In complete honesty I can't say that I love everything that I hear on this CD, but to be a fair judge, I must award extra points for artistry and technical difficulty. I do love the musical ideas I hear. ******************************************************************************* I must also admit, that while holding my 6-month-old daughter, Cara, I was emotionally overwhelmed when I heard the beautiful title tune, "I've been waiting." I realized that I had been waiting for her all my life. ******************************************************************************* This music may be too adventurous for some music industry types but someone in the music business had to have the luck and guts to hear the potential in Elvis Costello's and Prince's early demos. ******************************************************************************* Here's wishing the brightest future for Nhojj and his musical passion.
