4 piece, experimental rock, off-timings and keys, circa 1992 - 1996 Nothing incorporated elements of all musical genres and blended them with unconventional timings and rhythms to produce a sound unique to itself. A small but loyal following saw Nothings last gig at a small tavern in Waterloo. The band gone, but not forgotten. This site is a tribute to the band that truly lived up to their name ...and achieved exactly that. Please...enjoy!

    Artist History
Members of Nothing had a history of playing in bands and writing songs for over thirteen years. The first serious band evolved over the summer of 1989 with the formation of Unchained. Unchained was a five piece outfit that achieved a strong following in a very short period of time playing over 30 shows in less than six months. A four song cassette was recorded at Machine Head Studios titled 'The Release' from which two of the tracks appeared on the 'Death Valley Sessions' compilation. Soon after, the lead vocalist left the band due to artistic differences. A new singer was replaced along with a name change and a new direction. Yet another change with the new lead vocalist moving on saw the boys decide to concentrate more on the music, particularly instrumentals, with Frank and Mike sharing the vocals. Enjoying the breath of fresh air after escaping the Sydney hard rock scene, Nothing went on to draw from their earlier influences and write songs in a number of differing styles whilst maintaining their distinct sound...for that month. Several recordings remain that have been salvaged from forgotten audio tapes for download. We hope you enjoy these relics. Having the new direction and progressive style, the band needed a name to suit. The music sounded nothing like what the band had previously done and John suggested the group be called Nothing. Nothing played most Sydney venues such as The Annandale Hotel, Feedback, The Lansdowne, The Bat and Ball, with favourites being Max’s Bar in Petersham and The Haunted Castle located in Lewisham, supporting and headlining with The Psychotic Turnbuckles, Spdfgh, Frog, Lawnsmell, Purr, and others Nothing recorded and had some airplay on 2SER and other local radio stations. Nothing played their last show in January 1996 at the Waterloo Tavern after Mike decided to call it quits. Frank, John and Vince then moved on to other musical ventures, the most prominent being The Brown Sound.
