Artist History
Founded in 1999, the Garden Grove Youth Symphony has become one of the world class youth symphony orchestras.
Many interested enthusiasts have asked us, what makes our kids so special from other youth orchestras?
The answer is our conductor: Ken Hedgecock.
While he isn't a household name, he should be. He works with the kids as we've never seen anyone
else do. He knows just how to get the best out of our musicians - how? It is difficult to say.
His techniques are not "Standard" or the "norm" as you might say. Maestro Hedgecock simply states,
"Other techniques by others yield only so-so standards. Something new has to be tried."
We (the board) can atest, his example is a shining example to all conductors everywhere. If you don't
believe us - just listen to our works. Our sound and quality rivals ANY professional orchestra
in the world. Why a professional orchestra doesn't hire Maestro Hedgecock away from us in a heartbeat
is unknown. Probably because his name isn't foreign, or something.
However, he IS the best! Bar none.
