Artist description Exit Io formed in early 1997 as Plan 9. The band played several venues around their native city of Birmingham Alabama. In several consecutive competitions, the band has won many honors including best guitarist, best bassist and best vocalist award in the local Ruby Tuesday band competition. This year the band has won the citywide, City Stages Battle of the Band competition and played to receptive audiences in downtown Birmingham, during the largest musical event of the year, the City Stages festival, which draws thousands of people each summer. Exit Io, has also been picked to be filmed this summer, along with several other local bands including Pain, in a documentary film. In early January 1999, Exit-Io independently recorded their first album,"Moonlit Lullaby." In response to the meaning of their band name, the band has chosen to keep the true meaning a mystery while the lyrics reflect a world of questioned personal identity, love and the power of information as we all hurl towards the future. The band’s style is avant-garde, reminiscent of early Genesis, the Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, and, at times, Sonic Youth. Exit Io'sintriguing stage show includes up to twelve television monitors, a slide projector, and a sampler. An Exit Io show has been described as an experience, more than just a concert. Exit Io's debut album is availablenow at www.exit-io.com. The album contains ten songs and lasts over 45 minutes.
