    Artist description
CHURA is the artist name of Alex Churbanov, independent singer-songwriter from St. Petersburg, Russia. This is an eclectic project, and obviously this site is unusual. It contains songs in different jenres and styles, but most of them have something in common: they are based on poems written by the famous English and American poets of the 19th century, like William Blake, Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Bridges, Henry Longfellow, Walt Whitman and others. You can listen to the songs and you can also find the texts of the original poems in the "song description" page of this URL.. Please enjoy!

    Artist History
This is how CHURA describes his background: "I have been composing music since I was 16, and those were mostly rock ballads and rock-n-rolls. For several years I have been the leading guitarist and performer in a rock band which did not have any chance to become the new "Aerosmith". It was a real pity! But time went on. Now having matured as a manager of a British consultancy in Russia and as a father of two girls, I still spend a bunch of my time composing and performing songs, now at my home studio". What this project is all about: "This project which I called "Captain" is the result of my composing work in the last three years. It is not just an eclectic collection of songs. It is a project, and I will now try to explain what I mean. A few years ago while reading a book of poems by the American and British poets I found out that those verse written in the 18th and the 19th Centuries sounds strikingly modern. It conveys something, which I call "the lost feeling", you know, like returning home after a long journey or meeting an old friend. Everything looks a little bit small-sized, out-of-date, funny, but it is still very inspiring. So I decided to put the words into music. Now you can see the result". What is going to be next: "I am thinking about adding a couple of new songs (hopefully, one of those will be "Raven", based on a well known poem by Edgar Poe, in rap-like style) and one new track. Than I will start working on an electronic project which will be the song project, not just electronic music tracks. And all outcoming new songs and tracks will appear in this music page. So please come again. I love you, CHURA".
