Press Reviews
Metronome Magazine Charlie in the Box features the clever workings of songwriter-musician Billy Hartong. With leanings towards ethereal new age sounds, Hartong and a host of musical friends help to weave spectacular tales of musical mystery and wonderment. Surprisingly, many of these arrangements were recorded in small studios and apartments, so its extraordinary that the album maintains its cohesive balance. Hartongs songwriting borders on the genius while his execution is second to none. Friends John Morrical, Darian Cunning, Tim Edgar, Tim Newton, Will Dailey, Anthony Burulcich, Noah Zamansky, Erin Sweeney, Elise Vogel, Meredith DiMenna, Adam Wade and Omar Guffar should all be applauded for their wonderful accompaniment in helping Hartong realize a most engaging body of work. Fantastic! The CD was awarded a place in Metronome Magazines Top 5 albums of November chosen from over 30 albums reviewed. |
