Artist description
Our music is for everyone, guys and grrrls. We have a pretty hard rock style, with some more subtle ballads. The style of music that would probably describe us most would be Pop-Punk/Rock, but saying that is like saying Led Zeppelin is just a classic rock band. Our influences range from a variety of sources, from 80's rock, to grunge, funk, jazz, classical, country, pop, classic rock, you name it, it's probably influenced our band somehow! |

Artist History
The band currently consists of two members. Christie Mathis(vocals), knew Sparky Simmons(Venus Grrrl Trap's first guitarist) from high school. A few years after graduating, Christie received a phone call from him to catch up on old times. She was dating Eddie Mowery(bass/guitar). Sparky had been in earlier regional bands from China Grove. They all gathered together and began to write a few songs. Seeing that everything was beginning to gel together, the band looked for a drummer. They could not find a versatile drummer to incorporate the many styles of music the band wanted to perform. A friend of the band played the drums to help record Venus Grrrl Trap's first songs in a studio and also played a few early shows. After Venus Grrrl Trap recorded the album, they toured malls, clubs, and anywhere else they could play. Venus Grrrl Trap is currently auditioning future members and may begin to play future shows. As of right now, they are writing more material. |

Press Reviews
"The kind of rock 'n' roll that used to blast from suburban kids' basement parties in the late '70s and early '80s. Crunch-toned guitars riff around headbanging melodies, and sultry female vocals make it sound like the singer could very well be friends with every member of the Runaways." - Eric S(Listen.com). "My personal favourites at the moment, this band deserves to go places with their mix of punk, grunge, and metal. A very original and inspiring outfit. Check it!"-Dimension-7 Records. " Give this stellar new band a big listen!"-mp3.com. About Crush:"Takes you were you want to go and back class!!!" and Guilty:"A good song with lots of potental so have a listen."-Fresh Talent Promotions |
