Artist description
The original UK Nu-House act, which gathered enormous accalim through the mid-90s for its' ecclectic blend of funk, jazz and disco with deep house grooves. Hailed at the time for their highly original policy of incorporating live instrumentation into their infectios disco-house grooves, they've had a string of successful releases on the likes of Planet Nice Records, Resolution Records, Filter, Balance in Chicago etc.More recently their disco tinged reworkings of many hit records for the likes of Texas, Bran Van 3000, Touch & Go, Columbo etc. have established them as one of the most sought after remix outfits of the moment. Currently they're working on the new Trailermen album which dabbles with Big Beat as well as their more typical Deep House fayre, and draws on some high profile vocal talent. It's due out later this year. |

Artist History
Born out of West London's Planet Nice Records in the early 1990s, Trailermen established themselves as a production outfit hell-bent on re-invigorating the then stale and soulless house scene. Their plan: to reintroduce funk, jazz and disco back into the house scene, with the help of in-house musical talent as well as some of London's best session players. At the time a revolutionary idea; in a world dominated by cheesy pianos and 909 drum rolls real instruments was an alien concept! As the tracks poured forth so the acclaim gathered, initially from UK DJs like Idjut Boys, Harvey, Graeme Park, Phil Gifford, Russ Morgan etc., who immediately took up the 'real-house' baton and played their music mercilessly. Before too long the word spread overseas and the likes of Masters at Work, Deep Dish, Dimitri from Paris were on board. More releases followed, licensing to One Records in New York and Balance in Chicago, singles on Nu-House pioneers Resolution Records out of Brixton and Dorado sub-label Filter.Inevitably they were spotted for remix duties and their attention turned towards working their magic on a whole host of mainstream material. Texas adopted them as their remixer of choice, work for Bran Van 3000, Ultimate Kaos, David McAlmont, Touch & Go, VAST followed amongst many others. The theme was very much as it always had been - solid grooves, great melodies and those elusive funk and disco flavours which had characterised their early work. The downside - own productions were neglected under the weight of remix interest. A situation soon to be remedied. The new Trailermen album is currently in progress and is due to see light before the end of the year, featuring almost exclusively new material and blurring the borders between disco, house and big beat. It also features some exciting vocal talent. And that's the story to date. |
