Artist History
Growing up together as brothers and cousins with an interest in music, the band was formed in 1993 by Justin Benedict who had been writingsongs since age 9. Joined by brother Josh who also loved music, the twoof them began working on songs and playing together. Shortly after, theirtwo cousins Jeremy and Jason joined the band to make it complete.Starting out under the name "Faith" they performed for the first time at achurch talent show and then were asked to play again at another church.Though their songs were all written about God and their message wasclear, they had never thought of actually playing other places, but beforethey knew it, their music became a ministry. The band then became Souldeep. Giving God all the credit for everything, including booking, Souldeep has performed all over Washington. Playingplaces such as Seattle Pacific University, churches leading worship, youth groups, "See You At the Pole Rallies", malls, coffee shops,Christian bookstores (Christian Supply, Family Bookstore and Dightman'sBook & Bible), outdoor camps, and in 1999 we will be playing Creation99 and Hopefest 99. They have played with artists such as ScottKripayne (who was nominated for a Dove Award), Nouveaux, ScottWesley Brown, and 5 O' Clock People. Recently Souldeep addedanother member, Jacob Benedict who plays both guitar and bass. Thisallowed the band to expand in another direction that they are very excitedabout. In the summer of 1997, Souldeep was supported by a church to do anoutreach tour in Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras. They played inchurches, high schools and at a university. During alter calls, they wereamazed and blessed at the amount of people who accepted Christ.Coming up next year, during the summer of the year 2000, Souldeep willhave the opportunity to take a trip over to England and possibly Ireland. With a focus on outreach, they will play in schools, and churchesthroughout the country. |
