Artist History
He was born in 1936 at Pittsburgh, Pa. and has seen many changes in the music world. As a young boy he listened to the Big Band sounds on radio in the 1940's, as there was no TV. He also listened to all the "White Pop" music of the 50's. However, in 1952 a new sound was heard on a tiny radio station in Pittsburgh. It was Rythmn and Blues.Like many others Ron was attracted to this Black Music because of the beat, the lyrics, and the taboo of it all. Hillbilly Music was also always there on the fringe, but never in the mainstream of American Music. It was the music of cultures that were in transition. Rock & Roll came along and blew everything away. All of this influenced Ron, and since he had a stronge desire and root base to create his own music, the result was "Pure Pennsyltucky", songs from the heart of Western Pennsylvania. Each song is totally different, and reflects a little piece of Ron's soul. Ron has played as a solo artist, and also in numerous bands. At the present he playes in a four piece group, "The Bootleg Bros. Band". A hot lead guitar & Harp play the leads, while congas and Ron's rythmn guitar provide the back beat for the music. This band plays originals and absolutly NO top 40. Ronnie Gunn has given up on the music establishment in the USA,particularlly the righteous little town of nashville. He offers this album to the world to make their own judgement. and offers this album to the world to make their own judgement. |
