    Artist History
Rick Dufay began his musical career as a solo artist, releasing his first solo album, Tender Loving Abuse (Polydor), in 1980. He then joined Aerosmith in 1981, replacing guitarist Brad Whitford. He recorded "Rock In A Hard Place" with the band and toured with them until early 1984. Rick then signed with a now defunct European label. An entire album of tracks was recorded in London in 1989 but unfortunately, the label dissolved before Rick's album was released. As a result of today's technology and this MP3 site, lucky fans will have the opportunity to listen to and purchase this album of great rock and roll music. Aerosmith and rock fans around the world will relate to and enjoy this album. The title track Written In Stone has history dating back to some Aerosmith recording sessions in the early/mid 80's. The song Didn’t I is a powerful reflection of Rick’s life and emotions both during and immediately following his Aerosmith days. Rick returned back to the States in the early 90’s and commenced a year-long solo tour with his band as The Rick Dufay Band. Soon after, Rick teamed up with Karen Lawrence (LA Jets, 1994, background vocals on Aerosmith’s “Get It Up”) and company to form the dynamic blues group Blue By Nature. Playing the blues in smaller venues was quite a departure from his rock star days in Aerosmith yet Rick felt surprisingly content. Getting back to the basics, what he grew up on, the blues, seemed to be just what he needed to get his life back on track. About his time with Blue By Nature, Rick says “I had as much fun in Blue By Nature as I did in Aerosmith in some ways. In Blue By Nature, I really got to play and find out what I do and love the most, as well as work on my craft, which is all about serving the song." Rick is currently working on a new album. As a gifted songwriter, he is able to capture the spirit, passion and emotional kaleidoscope generated from his life experiences and transfuse them all into the music on this forthcoming album which will give each listener a clear look inside this voyager’s head, heart and soul.

"...fronting his own band, RICK DUFAY fulfills the promise he showed as a member of AEROSMITH." - JACK NEWHOUSE, THE MUSIC PAPER, NYC...The RICK DUFAY band sounds, looks and feels as real as rock gets. I'm amazed that this band calls L.A. 'home'...far more genuine that most of the imposters that have crawled out of Tinseltown in recent years. The RICK DUFAY band restores L.A.'s rock and roll credibility." - DENNIS THATCHER, THE BOSTON GLOBE
