    Artist History
From the depths of time, music has helped people find their way. music for mapmakers are no exception. Their journey is akin to that of Canadian trailblazers of yore, stretching across this vast land, from the sparse prairie landscapes of Saskatchewan to our nation's capital Ottawa where three of these young men felt the pull to continue exploring unknown territories. Eventually finding themselves in the Torontonian land of Queen's Park, Myles, Derek and Shayne were joined by Neil. All four now face the challenge of charting a course through intense and swelling soundscapes so to bring to you the world's first stereosonic positioning system where you too can be found in their introspective sounds. Modern without being derivative and name-checked alongside the likes of Mercury Rev, Mogwai and the Stooges in their Funhouse, music for mapmakers personal musical lineage crosses paths with Low, John Ralston Saul, Janet Cardiff, John Coltrane and Benjamin Anastas. With openings for several international acts such as Japan's Kahimi Karie, Ireland's Watercress and Scotland's Momus, Toronto's visionary mapmakers may soon chart beyond the territories of their homeland. more information can be found at www.grenadinerecords.com
