Artist description
Jordan Waring is a composer who, first and foremost, believes that music should be musical, something that touches the audience and connects the composer, orchestra, and audience in the remarkable triangle of experience that good music is. He defiantly writes what he wants to write, and tries to help close the gap between audience and composer that has existed throught the 20th century, as composers wrote more for academia then they did for audiences. His music has been critically acclaimed and well recieved. |

Artist History
Jordan Waring was born in 1964 in New York, and was raised in an intensely musical family. His grandfather, Fred Waring, was a much recorded choral conductor and big band leader and both Jordan's parents are professional musicians. As a child, he studied trumpet, piano, and percussion and began composing songs when he was 15 years old. His parents, however, persuaded him to pursue a nonmusical career and he attended Penn State University, then began a very successful career in the financial markets. In 1992, he suddenly began composing again in earnest. It is symptomatic of the man and the musician that he should begin with a Symphony which was completed in December of 1993.This unleashed a torrent of music. His Second Symphony (August 1994) was premiered by the Allentown Symphony Orchestra to critical acclaim and an enthusiastic full house. His Bosnian Overture was performed by members of the Florida Philharmonic at a special concert in aid of civilian victims of the war in Bosnia. His first Piano Concerto was completed in the spring of 1995, followed by The Mountains of Tolima, a commission from the Conservatory of Tolima. He is currently working on a third symphony. Jordan continues his career in the financial markets despite his increasing commitment as a composer. He lives with his wife, Alexandra, and his young son, Thomas, in Florida |

The Tampa Tribune"Waring shows in all these works his willingness to simply write beautiful music"--The Harbinger"Neo-romantic music at it's best...."---American Record Guide |
