Focus/Sept. 17, 1998 It was an untimely end to a full and rich life,but it will not be a life soon forgotten by familyfriends and a community of musicians. Chris "Falls" Faulkenbury died in March of a heartattack at the age of 38.Chris had suffered withheart problems most of his adult life...but he watched his diet, exercised regularly, andvisited his doctors on a regular schedule. Becauseof his heart condition, Chris was unable to obtainlife insurance. He left behind a wonderful wifeand a beautiful 2-year-old daughter. Shortly after Chris’ death a tape wasdiscovered of his original material,some of which had never been played live.Now the songs of Chris Falls will have alife of their own on the CD “Chris Falls tribute”.The project will help raise money forThe Taylor Faulkenbury Fund, a college fund for Chris’ young daughter, Taylor Renee.This project was the collaborative effortsof some of Catawba Valley’s most talentedmusicians and singers, and a small army offans and admirers. The CD was recordedat JLR Productions in Lincolnton, the homestudio of on o Chris’s longtime friends andcontemporaries, Jeffrey Lynn Reid.Reid and Chris’ performing partner of someyears, Mike Long, spearheaded the recordingutilizing over twenty musicians and singersfrom the area. Chris was known as a popularentertainer who covered other musicians’ songs,no one really knew what a talented songwriterhe was. The songs and performances on thisCD are as well written and professionally produced as anything currently playing onthe radio. And now that this CD and other songsof Chris’ have found a home on the Internet,hopefully his music will live on forever… |
