Artist History
David began recording as "Vladimir" in his early teens. In 1987 a high school friend (Clark S Nova) gave him a custom built guitar with the invitation to "learn it in 3 weeks and you can open for my band". With the addition of Jimmigator Nichols on drums, "Vladimir's Universe" was spawned. Playing almost exclusively atYpsilanti, Michigan's Cross Street Station, Vladimir's Universe expanded to include other musicians including Freddy Fortune (Fortune & Maltese, the Covingtons). During these days of local celebrity, the Universe regularly appeared on Rob McLean's Collide-a-scope on low wattage WQBR-AM.
After leaving Ypsilanti for San Francisco in 1989, only a few live appearances and one obscure tape occured.
The nineties were not so productive with only a few good songs coming out of a techno-jazz Jesus music project called Red Letter Edition (annotated).
Re-emerging in the 21st century as "Mister Corduroy", David synthesizes all the experiences of the last 15+ years into fun and thought provoking (or just provoking) songs. |
