Press Reviews
"...a moody pop-rock masterpiece..." - Billboard Magazine "Born with the Beatles and thriving ever since, power pop is a melody-driven, jangly guitar sound that seems to cross barriers in music, appealing to traditionalists and punks alike. And nobody in Milwaukee does it better than Trolley, whose debut full-length disc, Head Vs. Heart- following a trio of EPs issued over the past three years- was released late last summer. Garbage recording engineer Mike Zirkel eschews gimmickry and dazzling effects in capturing the band's driving guitars and sing-along melodies on these 15 tunes, which, for all their bounce, are grounded by a twinge of earthy darkness and variety. "Over The Wires" nods at country, "You Had To Fall" draws on a surf guitar figure. But it's the insistent melody and swooning harmonies of the title track that marks the apex." - Milwaukee Magazine, January 2000..."Head Vs. Heart raises goosebumps." - Shepherd Express Metro, August 1999....."Perotto and Wall are quite possibly the best guitar duo in pop...they draw from a history book that runs the gamut from surf to power chord heaven to rock and roll fury. If you ever get the chance, don't miss seeing Trolley should they come to your town - I assure you that it will be an evening to remember.(Trolley at North By Northeast, Toronto, 2000)-Shake It Up.org...."Head Vs. Heart is a gem for the ages"- Not Lame.com"...."This new single from Trolley point the Easter Records artists in a new direction as well as demonstrate just how experimental and fun the four lads are. The song, "Fire in the Rain" is a dubbed out cover of the Agent Orange classic and will appear on the "Riding Waves of Death" compilation on the Surf and Destroy label out of Belgium. The single was recorded and mastered by Mike Perotto of Trolley who managed to capture the intimacy but not the mustiness of his basement on this all analog recording.
