Artist History
Boiling out of the steel mills and storm drains of Pittsburgh comes the high energy, over-the-top-rock-n-roll band called Silver Tongued Devil. Born in early 1997 from the ashes of the Arn City Pahnders and Get Hip recording artists Pilsner, S.T.D. reunited former Eviction main men Todd Porter(vocals) and Rob Tabachka(guitar). Drummer J.J. Jarosinski , bassist Steve DePasqualle, and guitarist Sam Sheen were recruited and the mayhem began. Drawing from the classic sounds of rockers like the Stooges, the Ramones, and Motorhead, and spurred by the new rock of bands like the New Bomb Turks and the Hellacopters, the signature sound of the band emerged. The Devils' soon took the stage, opening for legends like Dead Moon and the Deniz Tek Group(Radio Birdman), as well as warming the crowd with heavy doses of riff-tastic rock while sharing bills with Hot Damn, Submachine, and many others. Press Reviews
"I'm pleasantly surprised by these lard-assed monkey pumpers from PA, 'cause etched in these here grooves are some fine rockin'-ass tuneage reminiscent of a beefier HUMPERS (or JONESES, if anyone remembers them), with all the JOHNNY THUNDERS guitars and double the balls. Kudos for the title "You Broke my Heart (So I Broke your Face)" and the tasteful STOOGES-like one note piano. Highly recommended." From Tony Slug of THE NITWITS."Big Hairy guys with a big hairy sound. This reminds me a little of the gruff grind of Poison Idea, but there is more of a traditional rock and roll feel here. Albeit done at break neck speed. The four piece puts their equipment to the test on "I Ain't Got Nothing," "You Broke My Heart,"Rockin' Riot" and three others that are all as desperate and frantic as the titles imply. Ballsy, arena-filling guitar chunk and vocal chords that are strained on every syllable. A similar as some lazy cowgirl blast." From the #1 punk rock magazine FLIPSIDE "Alas, but what awaiteth lord Tesco as he greeted the morning mail but a 10" by Silver Tongued Devil"Over The Top" on Spain's Safety Pin label .... whoa nellie. Take a gander at the Son of Bachman Turner overweight pissin' hot-lead punk at fever pitch and damn the comparisons, but big and greasy like Pygmy Love Circus, but smashin' it up like The Devil Dogs ..... criminy, but how do I express that dis is the musical equivalent of gettin' liquored up in D.C. and sledgehammerin' the heads off parking meters. So contact 'em and find out for sorry fuckin' self of what I speak .... Silver Tongued Devil." From the world famous TESCO VEE of the MEAT ME |
