Artist description
Megan McElroy Brutal Folkster at LargeSinger-songwriter Megan McElroy learned her first guitar chords when she was nine. Brilliantly articulate, but not well suited to school, she began writing songs rather than completing Math assignments at age 13…Mostly self taught, Megan has been honing her skills for more than a decade performing at coffee houses, clubs and festivals and writing, writing, writing! She plays a percussive style guitar, rich with invented technique that comes from somewhere in the middle of her right brain. Her music ranges from delicate erotic ballads to cleaner edge of the grunge spectrum. A charismatic and sensual performer, her lyrics are at once caustically cheerful and comically insightful. A transplant to Sonoma County, California, Megan has quickly become one of the most sought after musicians on the scene. Her audiences are a meeting ground for a diversity of fans from the Generation Xers, to followers of the 60’s folk protest tradition. Her first recording "Court Jester" was a self-published demo, which was made public due to pressure from her fans for something to take home after performances. Now, Megan has released her second album, “BUZZ” (June Millington, producer) in August 1997 and has taken it on the road. |
