Artist description
Kamikaze Friday has developed a certain edge to their music, which has given them genre labels such as "scrapcore" by music critics. Mixing rock, punk, funk, and some swing-ska, the band eventually coined the term brasscore to describe their style. |

Artist History
It all started back in September of 1997, when eight college students pulled their musical abilities together to form a ska band. At that point, the band consisted of two vocalists, one guitar, one bass, drums, trumpet, trombone, and a tenor sax. The first concert they landed was at a church in Whiteville, North Carolina, on October 31, 1997. That night, a visitor from a local coffee shop attended, and asked if they'd be willing to perform at his venue the following evening. Since then, Kamikaze Friday has performed in many different kinds of settings. Additionally, some of the band members have been replaced since KF's conception. The band decided to go the route of a single lead melodious vocalist, with the saxophonist doubling on rap vocals at times. A second guitar was also added, which helped to shape the 'core' aspect of their music. While some of their songs have incorporated a ska-ish rhythm, many people have commented on the uniqueness of the musical blend. |
