Artist History JOHNNY VASQUEZ was born in March in Guatemala, C.A. The music runs thru his veins; he is a musicians son, his father was part of a trio call Los Vasquez the trio was formed by his two brothers Pedro (guitar) Hector (Mandolin) and his father (lead guitar). He was invited to sing for the first time at an event organized by the school when he was only 7 years old. JOHNNY VASQUEZ used to sing at church with his father, brothers and cousins, some times he used to sing duo with one of his cousins, other times used to sing third voice with his cousin and father or brothers. When he came to USA in 1986, started his singing career in a professional manner... singing at night clubs like El Caché and other entertainment places in Los Angeles, as well as singing in special events like The independence day of Mexico and Central America Amiga (friend) was the first song Johnny Vasquez wrote and that was in 1985, that and other songs of his own inspiration are included in his first CD De piel a cuerpo, this was recorded in Los Angeles, CA in 1990. In 1986 studied vocals with a legendary opera singer Julio Julian in Los Angeles, CA. In 1988 won the first place in one of the singing contests made in El Caché In 1990 sang at the Los Angeles City Hall for the celebration of The independence day of Mexico, this event was organized by channel 34 and the name of the event was Grito 90. In 1991 sang at La Placita Olvera for the celebration of The Mexican and Central America independence day where he shared the stage with big stars like Leo Dan, Fernando Allende and Yolanda del Rio, this event was organized bye channel 52 in Los Angeles, CA. In 1992 sang in San Fernando Valley, sharing the stage with a great singer and songwriter Alvaro Torres, this event was organized by channel 22. JOHNNY VASQUEZ also was member of Estrellas del Futuro (Stars of the Future) a televised program by cable, he also sang at theatres like EBEL and others in Los Angeles. In 1993-94, recorded about 20 a 30 songs written by a great songwriter Gabriel Peralta Those songs were recorded but unfortunately where never pressed in CDs, till this date are kept in some place, maybe one day in a close future will record them again and make it a CD or two. In 1999 became a BMI member. In 1999, recorded his second CD Enamorado estoy. Almost all the songs were co-written with a great songwriter Eugene Torres together worked for a long time in this CD. Some of the songs that were written by Johnny and Gene are: Por fín encontré el amor, Veinticuatro horas, cuando tú me digas que sí, Yo vivo igual others were written by him like: Besandola, Enamorado estoy, este amor, etc. This CD was released for the first time in 2000. In 2000, moved to Nashville, TN., since he moved to Nashville his songs have been played at the Spanish radio stations and received a lot of support from the people. In 2000, sang live in various radio interviews for Radio Melodias 1300 AM and La Ley 1380 AM. In October 21, 2000, Sang at The River Front Park of Nashville, TN, this event was sponsored by: Ley 1380 AM, Radio Melodías, Chamber of Commerce and La Voz de Nashville news paper. La música corre por sus venas; siendo hijo de músico, su padre formó parte del trío Los Vásquez que estaba formado por sus dos hermanos Pedro (segunda guitarra) Héctor (Mandolín) y su padre Oscar (primera guitarra) cuando Johnny tenía apenas 7 años fue invitado para cantar en un evento de una escuela ajena a la cual el asistía. Cantaba en la iglesia con su padre, hermanos y primos, algunas veces cantaba en dúo con uno de sus primos y otras veces cantaban hasta en tres voces con su primo, y padre o hermanos. Al llegar a Los Estados unidos en 1986 comenzó su carrera artística de manera profesional, cantando en clubs nocturnos como El Caché y otros lugares de entretenimiento, como también en eventos especiales como la celebración de las fiestas patrias Mexicanas y Centroamericanas. Amiga fue la primera canción que él escribió en 1985 y junto con otras de su propia inspiración están incluidas en su primer CD titulado De piel a cuerpo. Este CD fué grabado en Los Angeles, CA en 1990. En 1986 estudió vocalización con un legendario cantante de opera español Julio Julián en Los Angeles, CA. En 1988 ganó el primer lugar en uno de los concursos de canto que se hacían el El Caché. En 1990 cantó en City Hall de Los Angeles, por la celebración de la Independencia de México, evento que fue organizado por el canal 34 y el nombre del evento se llamó Grito 90. En 1991 cantó en La Placita Olvera para las fiestas patrias Mexicanas y Centroamericanas compartiendo escenario con Leo Dan, Fernando Allende y Yolanda del Río, evento que fue organizado por el Canal 52. JOHNNY VASQUEZ también formó parte de Estrellas del Futuro un programa de televisión por cable, y por supuesto no podrían faltar las presentaciones en teatros como El Ebel y otros. En 1993-94, él grabó como 20 a 30 canciones escritas por una gran persona y compositor, su nombre; Gabriel Peralta, esas canciones fueron grabadas, pero desafortunadamente nunca se hicieron CDS, hasta esta fecha esas canciones siguen guardadas en algún lugar, quizá en un futuro pueda grabarlas de nuevo y plasmarlas en un CD. En 1999 se hizo miembro de BMI. En 1999, grabó su segundo CD Enamorado estoy. Casi todas esas canciones fueron escritas con uno de los mejores amigos de Johnny y también uno de los mejores compositores de la música romántica/pop Eugenio Torres Trabajaron juntos por mucho tiempo en este CD. Algunas de las canciones que escribieron justos son: Por fin encontré el amor, Veinticuatro horas, cuando tú me digas que sí, Yo vivo igual y otras que el escribió como: Besándola, Enamorado estoy, este amor, etc. Este CD fue lanzado en el año 2000 por primera vez. En el 2000, buscó un nuevo sendero, un nuevo lugar de residencia, Nashville, TN., Desde que él se mudó a Nashville, las radioemisoras han estado tocando sus canciones y ha recibido mucho apoyo por parte de todo el publico de esa tierra. En el 2000, cantó en vivo en varias entrevistas con Radio Melodías 1300 AM y La Ley 1380 AM. En Octubre 21 del 2000, JOHNNY VASQUEZ Cantó en el River Front Park de Nashville, Tennessee, donde La Ley 1380 AM, Radio Melodías, La Cámara de Comercio y el periódico La Voz de Nashville, fueron los patrocinadores del evento. En Marzo del 2002, grabó su tercer producción con diez canciones, en esta ocasión con autorías del Sr. Gabriel Peralta Los Sentimientos y las vivencias han sido realmente la inspiración de los temas escritos y a través de la balada/pop los comparte con usted.
