Artist History
Horchata was formed in 1999 by Tino Franco and Dan
Parker with Greg Lay and John Rushing.
Horchata was together for two years and played in
various clubs throughout L.A. and Hollywood. The
band recorded the album Fabulous Disaster with
original drummer Greg Lay who was later replaced
by current drummer Evan Rion and Sean Hart who
replaced Rushing.. In May 2001, Franco and Rion
left the band to start new project with
Franco's brother Daniel,Seven-40-Seven. Rion left
soon to due to personal matters. Dar Larizadeh
filled the spot while Robert Gamboa joined in on
bass. Band has monthly gig, first Friday of the month, at a bar called Rumors in North Hollywood,
CA. They can be gigging in clubs throughtout LA and up the
California coast, etc. The band just finished
recording their debut CD Age of uncertianty which will be
available on MP3.com shortly.Though Horchata no longer
exists the Future remains uncertain. It
is believed that he has recruited Erik Melvin from
NoFX on guitar and Sean Ross of Excell on bass.
Unfortunately the band could'nt live up to its
former caliber and that version no longer exists.
Though the beast lies dormant, legend has it the
band resurfaces from time to time. Check out Tino Francos new band

Press Reviews
MeanStreet Magazine: There's some very good stuff coming out of the Valley these days. High on the list is HORCHATA, whose Fabulous Disaster is polished, assured alt-rock done with hardass brio. I really liked the covers of "folsom Prison Blues" and "Paint It Black," but originals like "Union Man" and "So Far Away" are even better. Flinty and uncompromising in their nasty variations on traditional rock tropes, this band bears seeking out. |
