    Artist description
EXPLOITING EVE is a Los Angeles based Modern Rock band whose name has begun to permeate the saturated Los Angeles and Orange County music circuit. Their high-energy live performance captures new fans, raises ticket sales, and sells CDs at every show. Formed in 1998, Ex Eve's energetic music and presence gained momentum to create enormous local attention in 2001. The year graced them with notable shows at the Roxy, the Whisky A Go-Go, the Viper Room, and the Galaxy Concert Theatre, to crowds of 400+ derived from the labors of their own PR and Street Team. Ex Eve has also broken into the airwaves of Los Angeles radio and is honored to receive airplay of their tracks "Getting Thru," "Hang From My Line," and "Tuesday At Ten" by 95.5 KLOS' "Local Licks" DJ Kelly Cox. Exploiting Eve has also caught extensive attention from a number of LA's and OC's music magazin-es with interviews, show reviews, and album critiques in Music Connection, No Cover, MeanStreet, Campus Circle, Live, and others. Ex Eve was featured on the cover of the March issue of Rock City News which also included a two page interview article. DK Films approached the band and raised the capital for Ex Eve's first music video. The commercial track "Out In The Rain" was filmed live at the world famous Whisky A Go-Go and is scheduled for release in early 2002. Exploiting Eve was awarded the "Best Alternative Rock Band" award by Rock City News -Music Awards and AdrenalineRadio.com Music Awards in 2001. Rock City News, who had already chosen the band as Best Alternative Rock band in 2000, also bestowed them with the "Best Female Vocals" award in 2001. Ex Eve was included in Music Connection Magazine's list of the "HOTTEST 100 UNSIGNED BANDS" in both 2000 and 2001.

    Artist History
Exploiting Eve has been around since Feb. 1997. Band members Victor Lozano and brothers Vincent and Andres Ramos knew each other from their roles in various different bands. After having the opportunity to play with each other, the three decided to try something new and start their own band. The group needed a singer, so they placed ads in local newspapers as well as national musician connection services to see if someone would pop up."Est hard groove, alt rock band sks pro-minded voc. intensity, rage, image, att, witt & dedicatn. No 80s screamer." After many auditions, the three found a singer who encompasses the same music style, vision, and drive; Janelle Barreto. And so became, Exploiting Eve.

Rock City NewsNov. 25, 1999EXPLOITING EVE AT THE GIGby G-ManPassionate, Provacative, Powerful.Although that's basically all you need to know about Exploiting Eve, that isn't the full story. They are masters at creating smokey textures within a pulsating rock song-so much so that they have no need of a fog machine. Added to this is an ability to design songs that zoom forward on two levels at once; each tune offers both a throbbing melodic progression from the band, and another more ethereal melodic line sung by Janelle Barreto, their dynamic frontwoman. The results is a succession of time-warping numbers that constantly threaten to disrupt your equilibrium. Exploiting Eve caresses you, blankets you, fondles you, knocks you sideways, then gives you a come-hither smile and invites you back for more. And that's all in one song. Their material, including "All the Time," "Once Again," and "Time Flies," is uniformly excellent.Drummer Andres Ramos and bassist Vincent Ramos create reverberations that increase your heartbeat, and guitarist Victor Lozano has the extraordinary ability to play rugged and delicate at the same time.Barreto brings everything together with a voice that is part synthesizer, part saxophone and all bittersweet chocolate. Delivering the songs with tremendous zeal and ocean-deep tones, her vocals are in the "eight wonder of the world" category.Special guest John Vastano added backing vocals, played congas on one numer and guitar on a half-down other. His contributions were superb and with a band this excellent, that's saying a lot.----------Zeal Magazine-Spring 1999Music Review: Rating=2/4"Softer Than Sound" isn't what I normally listen to, but it's a likeable first record. This is simple blue-collar music from a hard-working, yet very simple band. Exploiting Eve goes for a Cowboy Junkies style tune on "Ordinary Day" that works well. "Lamela Pee," which features some spitfire vocals, disses Tommy Lee's buxom ex. In essence, "Softer Than Sound" is Jack Daniels-drenched rock'n'roll complete with a couple guitar solos and sorrowful vocals.
