Artist description
"... the craving for new and complex sensations and the desire to extend the boundaries of emotional and spiritual experience."
"I fly into a fury with myself because every other form of heroism is forbidden to me. I love things that are absurd, useless, impossible, frantic, excessive, and intense, because they provoke me, because I feel them like thorns in my flesh." -Emile Verhaere |

Artist History
The name "Decadence" comes from the 1890's art movement of the same name, inspired by the writings of Baudelaire, the art of Gustav Klimpt, and decadent romanticism. Though heavily influenced by David Bowie, The Cure, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, and Dead Can Dance, Decadence has developed it's own unique sound. It was founded in 1998 by Samyael, former frontman for "a murder of crows", who needed a new outlet for passion. While the rouster has changed in past years, the progression of the band musically and artistically is ever evolving. It is true that this band has a habit for self-destruction. It is about love. |
