Artist description
For a start, we are actually carolyn. Unfortunately, mp3.com already has an act called that, so we are carolynn just for the sake of this web site.We are from a mixture of musical backgrounds, including U.S. hardcore, Scottish lo-fi, shoegazy stuff and 90s indie. Our drummer was a guitarist, as was our bassist, and one of the guitarists was originally a bassist. We were entirely instrumental. The common factor that brought us together was Mogwai, and we have been (incorrectly) told that we sound like them, although there is certainly an influence on one or two tracks. If you like lo-fi, shoegazer or quiet(ish) post rock, then give us a go. |

Artist History
We formed at the University of York in November 98 and wrote some tunes. Then we entered the university battle of the bands competition, making it through to the Grand Final. Around this time we also supported the band Medal at the National Student Radio Conference, held in York. In June '99 we recorded our material using Matt's home studio set-up and then essentially split up. Matt then mixed and mastered the resulting CD over the next eight months or so. |
