Artist History
This band IS the artist history... Before Maroon David's dark lyrics in "the drowning", before Frank Jackson's piano mastery and Rich Petrucci's edgy acoustic rants, there was the original that started it all. The "Spinal Tap" of Little Jar Records. The infamous - Triphammer. Big hair, big pelvic thrusts on-stage - this band stands as a testament (and warning) to us all of what four teenage guys will do who are desperate to "Make it Big!" Perhaps the best known live performance was the Graffiti Rock Challenge where 16 bands competed for free studio time. Wondering if the contest was fixed, they decided to go for another prize - the most press. At the end of their set, they all dropped their pants revealing their colorful boxers with bold lettering written across each of their posteriors - TR IP HAM MER. (Maroon was HAM). The rest of us haven't been the same since... Their debut 4 song demo tape was originally to be called, "An Out of Clothes Experience," but was changed last minute to the title track, "Animal," because they were worried about their moms not liking it. (In their defense, their moms were a lot bigger then.) These tapes have faded, been lost and been broken over the years to leave virtually none in existence today. Until... Little Jar Records has dug through the archives of the Pittsburgh area studios and republished the work in CD format from the original master recordings. (Only available here through MP3.COM) Now, the work of Triphammer will live on forever to embarrass the members for years to come. Isn't technology great? |
