Artist History
The band originated from a collection of friends and co-workers who started out jamming casually on cover tunes. After a short while, delusions of grandeur followed and members began composing original music. This led to the formation of the Drills' predecessor band, the Large Blasthole Drills. Armed with a dozen or so original tunes and some live performances under their belt, the band produced a demo recording in the spring of 1998. This demo is available and you can download the songs for free at the Drills' official web page (see link above). As time went on, some original band members dropped out due to troublesome paternity suits, angry husbands, sheep farmers and other important commitments, leaving the remaining Drills (the primary songwriters) to carry on in their current format. With the participation of talented Montréal colleagues and friends, the Drills recorded their first full-length CD, released in January 2000. Today, the Drills boast over 40 songs composed, and more are being inked as you read this. |
