Artist description
Donnie Christianson creates melodic instrumental guitar music. Donnie began playing guitar in 1975, and has enjoyed years of touring throughout the U.S. and Canada with many local and national acts, and found the time to release several solo albums from the late 80's to mid-90's. His credits include Southern rockers Dukes Nitemare, metal God THOR, Christina Raine, and many others. His melodic licks and smooth, singing tone has appeared on albums albums by all of the above and more, with styles ranging from country rock to headbangin' heaven.
Donnie's influences include Aldo Nova, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Neil Geraldo. His solo music blends scifi and ambient scapes with techno and funk. Moonbabies, the first single from the Paradox CD, blistered its way into the Top 20 Guitar Rock charts on Mp3.com in February 2001, enjoying a stay for several weeks alongside players such as Robbie Kreiger, Howard Hart, and Bret Garsed.
DC's touring rig consists of Marshall amps & cabinets, an almost exclusively Digitech processor rack, various stompboxes, and Charvel, Washburn and Yamaha guitars. He also occasionally uses a custom Fender Strat with a fully scalloped 21-fret neck. In the studio, almost any piece of gear or gadget is given a chance to emit unique sounds.
In 1998, Donnie joined Dukes Nitemare as a co-lead guitarist. Lending his signature style to the Willows album (the band's second release), Dukes' Southern Rock sound took a mild turn. Another Town, Another Show..., was completed last month and is currently available on the band's Mp3.com page. The songs feature some of DC's best playing to date, and Alan West's classic production showcases not only the band's mastery of their instruments, but also their hit-songwriting abilities.
Donnie is currently mixing a follow-up to Paradox. The Evolution album further explores melodic and catchy soundscapes, and is slated for a Winter 2003-2004 release. With an instantly recognizable style and tone, Christianson is a player to watch. |
