    Artist description
Already named the "Best Rock Band in Denton, Texas for 1999," Dollybraid is quickly becoming one of the larger bands in the DFW metroplex. With the release of their latest self titled CD, Dollybraid is touring Texas and the surrounding states, creating quite a stir at each stop. Their powerful, high-energy live show always pleases the crowd. From the funk rock influence of the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the smoothness of Eric Clapton, Dollybraid brings you their unique style of rock'n'roll with the intensity of Rage Against the Machine.

    Artist History
Dollybraid formed in 1997 in Denton, Texas, with Robert Jones, Mark Sims, and Jose Yllana. David Neff joined the band a year later, and the group has been climbing ever since. Nearly 1,000 copies of their debut album "Cloud Nine" are currently in circulation, and Dollybraid is constantly touring in support of their new release (self-titled.) Based on the love of music and live performances, Dollybraid brings their light attitude and fun atmosphere straight to the people. Few people leave a Dollybraid show without becoming a true fan. The group hopes to expand it's touring and increase it's fan base nationwide. No venue is too big, and no venue is too small, but few can anticipate the Dollybraid experience they are in store for.

    Press Reviews
The headlining act of this little get-together was Denton’s own Dollybraid. Accompanied by the regular slew of groupies (i.e. young girls dressed like strippers), the band gave a performance that puts its past appearances to shame. Joined by rapper Deric Dixon, Dollybraid opened its show with an explosive cover of the Beastie Boys’ "No Sleep till Brooklyn."Immediately fans could see the greatest improvement Dollybraid has made. Like a sleeping volcano, singer David Neff erupted on stage and into the complete package of a front man every band longs for. Already established as Denton’s premier vocalist, Neff has struggled in past performances with his stage demeanor. Now he is the most lucid of all. Even though he battled through having a sore throat and loosing his voice, Neff’s performance was more compassionate than ever. The group threw two or three other covers into the mix and showed its musical talent by making classic songs its own. Dollybraid even accomplished the unthinkable, an almost-perfect cover of R.E.M.’s "It’s the End of the World as We Know It." As a hard rock and reggae combo. The audience never knew what hit it.It was numbers like this and the group’s new, more complex material that allowed Dollybraid to expand its musical prowess. With bassist Jose Yllana and guitarist Mark Sims singing and harmonizing more than ever, this group has developed a more professional sound and exciting stage show than any other group in Denton. I’d hate to say the new music has more of a commercialized sound because of the usual negative implications that word has in the music industry, but Dollybraid’s music can be enjoyed by everyone and still satisfy the true fans seeking that personal sound that only they have.Neff’s intoxicating voice and newly-found charisma aside, he is also becoming an excellent lyricist. Accompanied by Sims, perhaps Denton’s most talented guitarist, the hypnotic bass lines of Yllana and the poundings of drummer Robert "Moonshine" Jones, Dollybraid takes an audience on a roller coaster of levels. Few of the groups who have recently risen from the Fry Street factory of music can do what Dollybraid does. Dollybraid starts a show on a level of energy that has a crowd jumping like idiots in one number and then whipping out their lighters and crying for the next number while keeping the same intensity. If you missed Friday night’s show, you missed one of the most extraordinary and professional shows Denton has seen in recent memory. Next time Dollybraid plays Denton, I’ll be there as a fan instead of a critic.
