Artist History
Los Angeles-based Angels of Venice completed a U.S. tour January, 2000 playing to mostly sold out shows and garnering standing ovations, encores and selling out CDs at almost every show. Their rendition of "O Holy Night" was featured in the DVD/video "Winter Solstice On Ice" (airing on the A & E channel Winter, 1999) with the CD charting in Billboard Magazine's Top 200. Angels of Venice were voted #2 Favorite Group on Echoes 25 Top Requested Bands Listeners Poll (www.echoes.org is a syndicated radio program covering 165 stations in the U.S.). Angels of Venice are on the cover of the magazine Entertainment Today which was released Friday, March 10, 2000 (see "Artwork" below/left of this page or go to www.ent-today.com). The CDs featured on MP3.com (except "Music for Harp") are pre-Windham Hill releases (for our new Windham Hill release, go to www.windham.com and do an "Angels of Venice" search). Thanks to amazon.com and projekt.com, the AOV catalog is now easy to find. NOTE: www.projekt.com has all AOV CDs on sale for only 13.98 (Darkwave Distribution, which is the lowest price on the internet). UPDATE: Angels of Venice is happy to find an efficient, organized new record label that actually pays the artist and has nice, non-bullying, non-ego oriented personnel: Trine Records; ALSO, we are happy to announce that our collaboration with Sam Rosenthal of Projekt Records (see banner on home page) has been really, really positive in all ways. Thanks, Sam & Lisa!!!! |

Press Reviews
BILLBOARD MAGAZINE "Awake Inside A Dream" - ****HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Angels of Venice explore medieval music and global sounds with a modern chamber music sensibility...Carol Tatum sets her original melodies in arrangements suffused with an enchanting sense of drama and atmosphere. It's a sound that looks toward Dead Can Dance as much as (classical composer) Manuel de Falla and is evocative and sensual. CARPE NOCTEM MAGAZINE "Awake Inside A Dream" - First, it should be noted that Angels of Venice is a beautiful act. Their music is lush, their sound is full and the musicians are as talented as they are physically attractive. Angels of Venice recreate a wondrous tapestry woven from the intrictate tonal threads culled from history's great musical loom. PROPAGANDA MAGAZINE " Awake Inside A Dream" - ...masterfully written and performed... These Angels are easily the most talented musicians I've written about in a long time. Besides just being accomplished musically, Angels of Venice have a real flair for style. Their CD booklet is adorned with beautiful medieval art and graphics... NAV MAGAZINE " Awake Inside A Dream" - This album really kicks...if I may be so crude...butt! Reminds me of Dead Can Dance but without their sometimes artificial ambient loops. ...I'm drunk and heady all over. Highly Recommended! AWARENESS MAGAZINE - "Awake Inside A Dream" - ...is a two part journey through the majestic eyes of Carol Tatum...(whose) vision is the driving force behind the music. There is an abundant amount of soul and sensuality blending effortlessly with a sense of adventure and mystery... Tatum is adept at creating music that is visually lush and supported by a strong underlying theme (mood). Her moods tend to reflect the dark underbelly of emotion that is being explored in the music. This is a natural expression of talent and not necessarily a foreboding exercise in the grotesque or macabre. ...cozily lilts through dreamscapes and new horizons, (this) music embraces qualities that are ethereal and earthy, representing a path of feminine perspective and oneness. N.A. RETAILER MAGAZINE - "Music For Harp, Flute and Cello" - Wow! Glorious musical compositions, exquisite packaging...strikingly beautiful presentation...powerfully captivates the senses. NAPRA REVIEW MAGAZINE - "Music For Harp, Flute and Cello" - Alluring...leads the listener straight into the world of dreams...surprises the jaded ear. HEARTSONG REVIEW - "Music for Harp, Flute and Cello" - Sensuous...mysterious...evocative...inspiring...I love it! MUSIC DESIGN "IN REVIEW" - "Music for Harp, Flute and Cello" - Enchanting...richly textured...introspective...intimate...enticing |
