ENJOY!!!!
All is right in my mind right now, because I'm relaxing to this jazzy blues number by Tim Fairfield and Upper G.I.! This is one of those tracks that is something you could enjoy any time of the day, no matter what you're doing. Quality musicianship leads it off, and low down blues take it home. Besides, everybody needs to hear this badass harmonica!
Tim Fairfield has a winner from all angles with "Streetwalkin". Musically, it tops the rest, with well played guitars surrounded by harmonica that is better than most I have heard on mp3.com; top that off with premium production, and what seems to be great attention to quality, and you have a winner from that angle.
Then just take the overall groove of this bad boy. This song just doesn't let up! I started it over five minutes ago and it just seems to keep building. It's got me in a choke hold, and it sure as hell isn't planning to let me go. Being of the quality that "Streetwalkin" is, I'm bound to be listening to this one a lot in the next week.
Do you have the desire for an awesome blues track from an artist who has enough quality to keep you coming back for more? Then go to this guy's site and listen! It's worth your time, that's for sure.

-----Absolutely amazing compositions. This band does not need a vocalist, since his guitar skills brings his instrument to life, and gives it a voice of it's own. Great bass and percussion, keeps you moving and wanting more. Original and can be compared to veterans in the industry.-DNelson, Expose Yourself: Nova Scotia Reviews (http://home.netinc.ca/~dnelson/index/NSviews.htm) -----------Tim Fairfield And Upper GI is picked as a selected featured artist by (Creative Labs') Nomad/Musicmatch playlist on the frontpage of AMP3.com. (September 27,1999)--------Review by Cable-modem reviews #1, Mark James Murphy ,Artist: Tim Fairfield & Upper G.I. , Song: Streetwalkin' (cool harmonica) , Lyrics: n/a Music: 80% , Production: 90% , This is a wonderful sounding fusiony instrumental piece, with a lush production that I'm guessing was laid down in a bona fide studio. The stereo soundstaging is excellent. I love the arrangement, a harmonica and a guitar doubled over a laid back 3 chord groove. I like the way these guys play together. I think they'd make excellent film scores- background music for Vegas road movies?------Tim Fairfield and Upper G.I. feature guitar in the ECM school, but with a bit more bite. Fairfield plays articulate guitar with emotion, while the backing band stays out of his way and provide the necessary backdrop. It would be interesting to hear more interplay between the band and Tim. Still, if you're a fan of electric guitar you'll enjoy this song. If you're a guitarist that plays incredibly fast arppegiations and modes, give this a listen, you will learn about playing from the heart. Highly recommended. Download immeditely. Instrumental review by Bruce Satinover---------------This is seriously mind melting stuff....that I absolutely loved!"Pharos" This is wonderfully tasteful playing (even though I usually consider excessive effects inherently distasteful). Tim has a good feel for when to lay in and when to lay off. Overall very tasty...."Desert Groove:" 10 seconds in I've already got that sultry scowl on my face as it bobs up and down paying tribute to this dirty little groove.... ooohh baby I like it!"Acoustic 10/8:" The melody is pretty, the leads sparkle, this tune could easily have come off of a Michael Hedges album.Bottom line--Tim, you are truly a phenomenal player, and you write soulful music, too! I look forward to hearing more releases from you. by durinsbane (www.mp3.com/oversoul)-------------I just listened to Time-Is about ten times. Wild! My wife thinks yousound like Bela Fleck." "I loved 'La Villa!' I'm going to pass this one on to a friend of mine who isa big Rush fan."-Chuck Borton (www.mp3.com/thisismybag) --------------- "Smokin' guitar instrumental rock guy! 'Flow' was my fav. The fusion of acoustic guitar and keyboard pads, with the fiddle blowing over the top -- it sounds just sweet as all hell. Erased Funk is also very cool, your guitar sound reminds me of Vinnie Moore..."-Nick Mitchell (www.mp3.com/state4) ---------------"La Villa was pretty cool...the strange time sig was a bit of a change ...the guitars are really nice...everythings just seems to 'fit' so nicely together...it's a real sweet track..."-Chris Liscio (www.mp3.com/RedundantRhythms)-------------- "Pharos" Loose, whacked-out and spooked, Pharos begins with a circular guitar progression that may well stretchto infinity. Then it buzzes and squeaks and makes me feel giddy. As it gets bigger, everything elsebecomes tiny. Like I'm looking down the wrong end of a telescope. For 3 mins 45 seconds Tim Fairfield doesn't utter a word. Don't let that put you off. This is so cool you'll never even notice it's instrumental. -Review by S.K. (.Limecat.) (Rated in the top 30 for March 1999 at www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/concert/9968) --------------"La Villa" This song is extremely similar in style and sound to my own Witch of the Andes, so of course, I love it.two thumbs up. Guitar instrumental fans check it out! -Review by DMZ Jack Orman (www.mp3.com/music/Rock/2344.html)----------- |
