STEVE LAMARB I O G R A P H YIn a small town in Texas, at his mom's cafe, is where Steve Lamar began his career in music. Steve was about four years old when the customers atWylma's Cafe would come in and give Steve quarters to play a song on the jukebox and sing along. It was only a matter of time before Steve began writing his own songs and playing in neighborhood bands. After high school, Steve packed up his Mercury and headed for Los Angeles, where he worked in network television producing shows such as Working Girl,Disney's Boy Meets World, and ALF. Steve has also worked as a freelance photographer."After several years in Los Angeles, I felt it was time to commit myself to what I love most. Music."Since moving to Nashville in April of 1996, I've had the good fortune to write with hit songwriters like, Burton Collins (How Can I Help You SayGoodbye), and Byron Hill (Lifestyles of the Not So Rich and Famous, She's All Right Already, If I Was A Drinkin' Man, etc...)." His most recent achievement is a GRAMMY Nomination in the Best Short Form Music Video category for producing Reba McEntire’s "What Do You Say" Music Video. Steve's self-produced CD, "We'll Always Have Paris..." reached number five on the MP3.COM Country Chart and his MP3 single, "A Perfect Place" topped the MP3.COM New Country Chart for eight weeks.Steve has received overwhelming response from online listeners who have heard his music. They are drawn to his sincere and catchy lyrics as well ashis distinctive voice. If you've heard Steve Lamar or if you've seen him perform you know his music is real and from the heart. Now it's only a matter of time before everyone else knows this too.

From LISTEN.COM: New Country love songs rely heavily on piano arrangements and dripping pedal-steel. This is studio-perfect, radio-country with all the reverbed sounds and arena-style drum breaks of a Vince Gill record... From RIFFAGE.COM April 2000: Steve Lamar is a natural country artist, singing, writing and producing music with essence and honesty. He has a voice reminiscent of Kenny Loggins and the fantastic country flair of KennyRogers. Lamar's music is well developed, enthusiastic and diverse... From SoMuchToSay.COMSteve Lamar "A Perfect Place" Very professionally done Country song thats as good as gold . I'm surprised I haven't heard it on the radio. A+... From COUNTRYCHARTS.COM September 1999 Reviewed by James Jones: Steve Lamar "We'll Always Have Paris..." I have been looking forward to reviewing Steve Lamar's CD "We'll Always Have Paris..." In fact I was almost afraid I would wear the CD out before I had a chance to review it! This is the mostrefreshing CD I have heard in a long, long time. It's fresh, crisp, fun, and just plain great.Steve Lamar's musical recipe is a blend of contemporary country with a bluegrass flavor, garnished with a twist of humor. The first oftwelve tracks, "Always Something Broken" is a great song about how there's always something broken in his life; towards the end of the track the CD simulates that it is skipping, adding a nice humorous touch to a fun tune! In fact, every song on this CD is really well done and his lyrics are wonderful. Each tune has it's own ambiance and showcases Steve Lamar's versatility as a songwriter and artist. At the time of this writing "We'll Always Have Paris..." is sitting at #3 on MP3.com's country album chart and 7 of the 12 tracks on the album are in the top 100 on MP3.com's general country singleschart! "A Perfect Place" (my favorite song) is sitting at #3 and former #1 song "Always Something Broken" currently residing at #18.Steve grew up in Texas and is now living in Nashville. In between he took a detour to Los Angeles where he worked producing several network television shows such as Working Girl, Disney's Boy Meets World, and Alf. Lucky for us, he followed his heart to Nashville where he is now creating some very distinctive music that is a joy to listen to. You can hear it for yourself @ http://mp3.com/stevelamar Steve Lamar has a unique voice that is a perfect match for the sound of his catchy music and lyrics. Warning...you will drive yourself crazy after hearing it as you will not be able to get these songs out of your head! I think that is pretty much the ultimate goal of a songwriter and Steve Lamar has succeeded in creating music from the heart that people remember and can relate to. I am sure we will be hearing more from Steve Lamar...most likely under some very bright lights! Anyone who writes music like this, and sounds this good will not remain a secret for long. Go to his site, listen to his music, and pick up his CD. It has to be one of the best value for the dollar purchases you will make this millennium!... From MUSIC ROW Magazine July 23, 1998 by Robert K. Oermann: Steve Lamar "Always Something Broken" His personable vocal is somewhat reminiscent of ClintBlack. The writing is quite clever and the band is cookin'. This boy sounds like a comer to me... and his presentation packet graphics are terrific.
