---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Rochester's most unique and original band" - The Revolving Door----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Total nerd rock, complete with accordians, tubas, Star Wars references and Urkel-esque vocals. SNMNMNM's lyrics are absurd, granted, but they're also funny, without resorting to bathroom humor or "dirty" words ("Your girlfriend is so hideous/her stringy hair is falling out/she's got dead skin around her mouth/in fact she's got dead everything/your girlfriend is a zombie"). Music as satisfying as when the geeks win the homcoming talent show at the end of Revenge of the Nerds."- Listen.com----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------New Times July 29-July 5, 2000 excerpt from: Freek Show Providing the post show (Weezer) entertainment were a punk/polka combo known as SNMNMNM (pronounce it one letter at a time and it actually makes sense), who were slowly attracting a large mob as they played live on the sidewalk in front of the club. When Spaceland employees asked the band to end their performance, they simply packed up and moved their act next door . . .to the 7-11 parking lot! Another mob gathered and enjoyed the band as they handed out flyers and CD’s, but Spaceland officials yet again arrived on the scene to pull the plug and inform the group that neighbors were complaining and that Silver Lake’s Finest (and we don’t mean Beck) were on the way by Jim Freek---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Rochester’s Alternative Newsweekly Rewind ‘99: The Year’s Essential Music: Any group with a tuba player for a bassist has to be cool. Add to that an extensive knowledge of musical via the Eastman School and you’ve got an unstoppable combo. This is the coolest, most interesting group in Rochester by far. by Mike Morgan---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Group Home March 25-April 8 1999 excerpt from: Buster’s Pissed Again---Yesterday I was handed a tape of a band that is currently in the studio recording their first CD. The tape is the rough mixes of five songs, about half of the final project, and when I popped it in the cassette deck of the Buster Mobile on the way home from the store, I was blown away! Why am I pissed? Allow me to continue . . .These guys have no right to be as good as they are. They’re a bunch of musical infants that have no life experience to speak of. Three of the four have full-blown music educations. But these guys. These guys are DIFFERENT! I am SO IMPRESSED! The music is on the edge of genius, mixing modern themes with progressions and changes that are timeless, and under-utilized. The lead vocals are easy to understand the harmonies are ambitious, and they pull it off with ease. Key changes, retrogrades, tempo changes, and really complex musical ideas are presented in a way that the NORMAL listener can listen and appreciate, not for it’s complexity, but for it’s accessibility. The musical and lyrical themes are at times simple, but then BOOM; your senses are treated to a musical pas-de-deux that leaves me in awe. They are sitting on the edge of what I believe will be a musical awakening in America. I’m not kidding. I think these guys are gonna go big. OK, so what makes them special besides the musical genius? Who’s gonna notice? These guys follow NONE of the normal rock-n-roll rules. Sure, they have a drummer, and a damn good one. Sure they have an electric guitar, and in spite of the clever tongue in cheek punk demeanor, the kid’s got serious balls. But the rest of the band, well, where do YOU think an accordion and a Tuba fit in with the Rock scene? But WAIT, NOW HOW MUCH WOULD YOU PAY? If you order now, We’ll throw in at no charge some tasty TROMBONE on a few selections (played by the accordion, vocalist guy), a little strip joint trumpet (played by the guitar geek) and the occasional acoustic guitar as well. There’s a lot going on in a little space. And did I mention it’s good. . .REALLY GOOD!!!!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
