Artist History
Being a new year, 1999 marks the year for one of Canada's top indie bands Ritual, who are back to stack their claim.
After keeping themselves out of the public eye for quite some time, due to song writing and negotiating a now defunct European record deal, Ritual are preparing an all out assault on the heavy music community at large. With almost albums worth of material and several interesting ventures on their plate, these small town boys from nowhere are good to go.
Since the releasing of their first 2 CD's "Hate" & "I Give" , Ritual has gain critical acclaim world wide for their music and live performances. Having received air play in such countries as USA., Russia, Japan, France, Brazil, the Netherlands as well as their own, these small town boys from Cornwall, Ontario, Canada have managed to build quite a underground buzz. So much so that they've already played with such bands as the Headstones, L.A. Guns, Voi Vod, the Four Horsemen, Big Sugar and April Wine, just to name a few, in support of their releases.
With a clear picture of their future and their feet firmly planted on the ground, the question is not are Ritual ready for the world, it's is the world ready for Ritual. Prepare non-believers as the Ritual is about to begin! |

Press Reviews
Ritual - "Hate" -
by: Adrian Bromley - Chronicles of Chaos -
A strong follow-up to the band's last EP "I Give", "Hate" is truly a building block for the band and its music. Modern sounding, fueled by adrenalin and delivering a definite stomp, Cornwall, Ontario's Ritual are going in the right direction with their metallic grooves, a form of music long discarded as not being cool anymore. With the help of producer Harry Hess (Harem Scarem singer/songwriter) Ritual's "Hate" LP allows itself to come across not only as a slick recording, but as an album that manages to stand firm as a strong source of music and lyrical content. Such numbers as the title track, "Acid Machine", and "Tables Turned" create an aura within the album thus allowing the album to grow in various directions rather than focusing on one metallic style. Thumbs up to a more modern metal sound for these unsung heroes of Canadian heaviness. |
