    Artist History
RALLY first formed in late 1994 where they spent most of that year in a cellar under an old house just outside Glasgow in Scotland. Six nights a week the lads would meet in the 12'x15' damp room fuelled on alcohol to interpret their thoughts and feelings on the world through the medium of music.By the end of 1995 RALLY had penned around eight songs and focused on three of these to take into the studio for their first recording session. The songs are 'Rising star', 'Loose end' & 'Shoot you down', the latter being remixed into a dance club version in 1999 by Zoetrope on MP3.com. On a cold winter morning in February '96 the lads set off in the snow, to a remote recording studio in the Scottish Borders with enough alcohol to intoxicate several large elephants. The previous years constant rehearsal pays off and the session goes incredibly well. With some spare time on their hands the lads lay down an extra track 'Changes', written only a week before and virtually unrehearsed. The song goes down in one take with the vocal track being added as the minutes tick down at the end of the session. The high quality demo is passed around various pubs and clubs and RALLY are welcomed with open arms to join the live circuit in Scotland. The band are solid, high on the new found confidence of playing live, they begin to build a loyal fan base. Extensive gigging and more studio time follow resulting in two #1 songs on the MP3.COM Britpop chart, 'Now & then', and 'Daydreaming' respectfully. That just about brings us up to date with the recent #1 album, 'Long way to go....' surfing the top of the Scottish chart on MP3.COM. An 18 track, self penned album for $7.98 Grab it while you can, you won't regret it!

    Press Reviews
Review of Rally - Now & Then,YOU GUYS ROCK!!! What can I say, I am an old fan of The Jam. You have definately recaptured the spirit of Paul Weller before he whimped out with that jazz fluff in Style Council. What the hell was that anyway? Now & Then starts with a spartan acoustic section and squeeky clean vocals that give the illusion someone is singing right next to you. After one phrase, BOOM, and its Vox AC30 or Orange Amp (what ever you Brits play through) goodness for days. When it comes to guitar pop, you guys kick Oasis' spoiled asses back to grammar school. As any student of pop music knows, the thing that makes a pop song great is the ability to get into the head of the listener. They should be unconsiously purring the song like a satisfied feline. The lyrics are simple, infectious and honest. The song strives to be no more than what it is...a cool and delightfully melodic pop song. The thing I want to emphisize, if I may use Rally as an example, is the over all package. Too many bands neglect the importance of a cohesive and unique aura, instead, falling on emulation like a crutch. Conversely, when I speak of how an artist has captured "the spirit" of their influences, I make reference to when they have learned from and incorporated their experiences into their music, lifting themselves to the "next level". You guys are a refreshing change for these sore ears and a reminder of why I love pop music. If I heard it on the radio, I would turn it up to 10, and graciously accept my eviction notice. Thanks for hopin' in,Gueetarwww.mp3.com P.S. I have a Marshall Plexi that goes to fifteen! Hope the dog is clean now. Cheers **************** OK, back to business; with a REAL TREAT this time:R A L L Y:WOOOOOHAA!! This is a real heartwarmer! Just as i had written off the entire UK rock scene, these guys renew my childhood illusions. The Charlatans and the EARLY Stone Roses come scooting back."Now&Then": Hello my indie childhood, where have you been all these years? You've got the tongue-through-cheek loose guitar-strap bobcut smashing bloody wah-wah fit still, haven't you?? Thank you, Rally! This is what I've been missing. A bloody great tune. I also checked out Rising Star, Shoot You Down and Loose End. They've all got that certain IT i loved about the Charlatans and Stone Roses. Shoot You Down was perhaps the least GREAT one, but they were all LUVABLE!!!Your guitarist kicks rocking ASS!I haven't mentioned the mix, and although it's not top class, a little pro studio time would have you guys partying with Ash in no time. Seven years ago they'd fight to give you a rec contract - and they will in three years time. KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!! The SINGLE downside is the tiny volume problem the singer has - a great pop voice, but should concentrate on "focusing" the vox a little. This is honest - you're the best band I've heard on mp3.comFuck you Britney Spears - here's Rally!!!!! *************** Rally "Now&Then"http://www.amp3.net/rally The Good: The title fits this song well. Like a song that makes you comtemplate of the now&then. I know I've heard this progression somewhere You know the good songs are the ones that sound like something you've heard before but just can't figure it out so you listen to it over and over. I liked the chorus alot. The Bad: I wanted to hear the chorus more, more! This song is 3:13 but it felt short. The Verdict: The progression is soulful, check it out. I know i've heard this somewhere, lemme play this song again...
