Artist description
Motorcycle Disciples has a long-standing
reputation among their ultra-devoted fan
base for being a progressive band that also
retains a certain wild, out-of-control image,
almost like a punk band. You can't really label
the genre. When asked what they call their style
of music, guitarist Ben Dover just laughs and
says "I don't know". It's definitely what you
could call "hard music", with walls of distorted
guitar sound, spastic rythms in odd time
signatures, weird lyrics about everything from
various kinds of liquids to the C++ programming
language, and an underlying rumble of bass and
drums that you would expect to hear at a Rush
concert. Tom Skelly of Kwok magazine said of
their 1992 "Meat Plant" release, "This music is
like a non-filter cigarette to a smoker, rotgut
whisky to an alcoholic, or sweet, sweet choclate
to a fat slob. The most extreme form of punishment,
yet also satisfying."
