    Artist History
Flammable Dress grew in fits and shakes over the better part of two years. In 1995, Steve Padovani and Larry Silverman were playing in a coffeehouse band which ended up blowing to the winds. Not wanting to call it quits, they started looking for new members. Sally Moore responded to an ad Steve and Larry placed at Chicago's reknowned Old Town School of Folk Music. Tony Stompanato, the bass player, joined the band in similar fashion by answering an ad for a percussionist. We affectionately refer to the day Tony joined the band as, "The day the cat died," because, well, it was the day Tony's cat died. Tony soon brought in Tim, his drummer from a different band.

    Press Reviews
Reproduced with permission from the September, 1998 issue of In The Mix, Chicago's Music and Entertainment Magazine:With a sound reminiscent of Jewel gone electric or the Cranberries on the lighter side, I am reminded most of all of a more obscure band, Kennedy Rose. Soft harmonies sing poetry over precise instrumentals as the listener is gently moved but never jarred. In 'Heart Of Light' by Padovani we hear, 'I see the twilight in your eyes/At night you hold/The secret to my sunrise', and here we find every shade from twilight to sunrise. While I enjoyed the whole release, I really enjoyed 'Heart Of Light,' 'Minutes Apart,' 'Low' and 'So Long' (I am a sucker for mandolin).- Michael Finnegan, In The Mix
