    Artist History
With hundreds of sold out shows and thousands of loyal and repeat fans, Cecilia Noël is one of the hottest acts in the LA area and the #1 Latin act on MP3.com. Dubbed the Queen of SalSoul by the critics, Cecilia’s legendary shows have garnered her appearances on the Quincy Jones produced late night show "VIBE" and the Playboy Jazz Festival.Blending Salsa, Soul and Urban Beats, the 15-piece band, known as the Wild Clams, brings the type of energy needed to Cecilia’s well-written and extremely addictive brand of music called SalSoul. Sharing the stage with other LA greats, such as Ozomatli, Jurassic 5 and Boxing Ghandi’s , Cecilia’s fan base continues to cross boundaries, developing an eclectic audience that is the antithesis of the LA underground scene.

*Cecilia Noël Rocks the House with Her Wild Clams (by Debra L. Eckerling, Latin Times, March 2000)* Fiery singer/songwriter Cecilia Noel has been performing with her band, the Wild Clams, in and around Los Angeles for the past six years. Thanks to MP3, the "radio" of the internet where Noël recently won the World Music Category, Cecilia Noël has skyrocketed to the top. Every song on her second album, Delivery, is in their Latin top 40, including "Pronto Salsa" at number one, "Living on the Run" at number two, and "Mambo" at number three. Noël's "Tu Condena," "Crazy Salsa," and "La Culebra" are also in MP3's top ten. Her music is now being heard and appreciated throughout the world. "When I first started with my band, I was like the first one in Los Angeles to put together such combinations of styles with a Latin base: funk, jazz, rock, hip hop," Noël explains. "It's a big explosion of Latin exposure now. And I'm happy to be one of the people that supports it, and keeps developing Latin music. I call my music SalSoul, but in a way it's Latin progressive music." MP3 allows people to download and sample music, for either a few seconds or an entire song from an album. It's a fabulous way for people to become exposed to and take notice of independent artists. It's also a wonderful conduit for distribution. The response to Noël's music has been phenomenal. "There are definitely fans out there," Noël smiles. "I get 31,000 hits a week on my web site alone. It's pretty amazing. I had no idea it was going to be so fast, so incredible. It's so funny, but I am growing with the times. All this technology is welcoming me. "People from all over the world have been e-mailing me, and telling me how happy they are with my music, and how well it works on the dance floor in England and Australia and Canada," Noël beams. "I've heard fantastic things from France, as well. People keep saying, When are you going to tour?" Whether it's a steamy salsa or an angelic ballad, Noël's rich vocal quality comes through on CD. Yet, it's nothing compared to the power of her live performances. Sultry, steamy, and sexy, Noël also likes to have fun. She's an extraordinary entertainer, and her love for music certainly shines through. "The minute I am exposed to an audience, they're never going to leave dissatisfied," Noël explains. "They're going to leave so happy and so high and so inspired. It's just what I like to do. Iknow how to give people a lot of love and a lot of good music." A musician since childhood, Noël grew up in Lima, Peru. Raised with culture, studying books and learning about her heritage in such a repressed country was difficult for Noël. "I loved the country, but people outcast me," she recalls. Noël's mother saw her suffering, so she sent a young Cecilia to top music schools in Germany and Argentina, where she studied violin, piano, and voice. When Noël first came to this country, she moved to New York, where she added acting and dance to her extraordinary talents. Noël started working as a studio singer, and established herself as a Broadway performer. She briefly toured as a dancer with Menudo and watched a young Ricky Martin at the beginning of his career. "I admire him so much, because he has worked so hard to be where he is, she says. "I know what kind of training he had. I'm really happy for everything that he has." As much as Noël enjoyed life in New York, it was moving to Los Angeles that brought her compositions to the forefront. Noël has been nominated for a LA Music Award (Best Latin Artist) and an award for "Rock City News" (Best Alternative Band). Last fall, she opened for Tito Puente and the Buena Vista Social Club at the Santa Barbara Jazz Festival. Noël performs regularly with her 14-piece band at The Key Club in Hollywood. Noël has also been busy developing music for her next album. "I just finished writing a song with Bunny Hull called,'Give the Girl a Chance,'which is like an anthem for girls," Noël explains. "It's a really funny tune. It's a little bit of a twist with a cha cha and a little bit of Austin Powers. It's a great song and everybody loves it, and we're just starting to play with the band." Another endeavor, a duet with boyfriend Colin Hay from Men at Work, was featured when CBS "Woman to Woman" News did a segmenton Noël. "We wrote a new song, called 'Misty Bay,' after our trip to Australia. We recorded it, and it will probably come out in both our albums." What's most important to Noël is the music. "What I'm trying to create is something that is going to make people really feel, really love, really see the opportunities, really make their life's quality better," Noël explains. "I've lived on the verge of everything happening since I was eight years old," she continues. "I'm always on the verge of something greater, whether it's on a personal or on a musical level. "People have always seen me as a very successful person. It's really funny. I've been blessed, because I've lived the life that I have chosen.
