Artist History
Songwriter Alex Ballard started Sugarfoot in Milwaukee in 1992 with the release of the "Madeira" EP on Don't Recrods. In a few short years of relentless gigging, Sugarfoot became recognized both as mainstay local headliners and as an opening act for such national bands as the BoDeans, The Band, Wilco, The Jayhawks, and Little Feat. In 1995, after running into a wall of rock-n-roll red tape, Ballard dispanded the group and took some time off to write and re-focus. In 1998, Sugarfoot re-emerged featuring respected local guitarist Jim Eannelli and the solid rhythm section of Andrew Lester on bass and Vic Spankowski on drums. Sugarfoot wasted no time heading into the studio early in 1999 to record their debut album, "Take a Picture." |
