Artist History
I hail from Torrance, CA, received a double major in Music Performance and German Language & Culture from CSU Northridge and also studied musicology as an exchange student in Heidelberg. I lived and worked as a musician in Germany for 10 years in the cities of Heidelberg, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Hanover and Stuttgart. My work encompassed hundreds of performances as a soloist on flute & piccolo, extensive work in opera and musical theater, as well as chamber music, symphonic literature, sacred music and film scores. I was honored not only to have performed in legendary concert halls such as the Leipzig Gewandhaus, Amsterdam Concergebouw, Munich Gasteig and Cologne Philharmonie, but also in so many of the great cathedrals, castles and medieval village churches of Germany, France and Spain. In January 2000 I relocated to San Francisco, where I work as a musician and translator. On mp3 since March 2000! |

Press Reviews
NICE-MATIN (Nice, France): Michael Schubert's performances of the Vivaldi piccolo concerti take old music and make it fresh and invigorating. His performances in historic churches in Provence and on the Riviera are technically brilliant and musically superb! |
