Artist History Formed in 1996 by Duarte Castro, Liz Lulu & Joe Rocha. From 1996-1999, they recorded demos & played the Toronto music circuit. In Jan/99 they released "Live a Long Life". It debuted at #4 on CHYZ 94.3 & charted at colleges throughout North America. In Aug/99 they recruited guitarist & back-up vocalist, Lisa Doolan. ======================== =======INTERNET SUCCESS======= The year 2000 was a successful year with increased CD sales & chart topping songs on the MP3.com charts. They released an E.P, "Take Me Down" & aggressively executed an internet marketing campaign which resulted on their songs getting over 30,000 downloads on MP3.com. Lovejoy was chosen to be Torontos representative act on the MP3.com 50 City Summer Tour in July 2000. They debuted 3 songs on the MP3.com charts with "Shadows" peaking at #4, "The Other Side" at #2 and "Queen" finally breaking the #1 position on the chart. The end of 2000 saw the departure of Lisa Doolan. =================LOVEJOY TODAY================== In 2001, back-up vocalists Penny Hayward and Tainy joined the band to add powerful and soulful harmonies (and even more sex appeal to the band). Lovejoy is currently recording new material for release in the next few months =========EXPERIENCE=========Lovejoy is an extremely professional and tight rock band. This especially comes across during the live show which always gets the attention of the crowd. Since their formation, they have kept a strict practice schedule of at least 3 times a week. They have written over 100 songs together.
