Artist History
J.R. Castillo began playing under the name "J.R. Castillo and Unwound" while he was a student at Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco High ('86-'90) and during his undergrad years at the Univerity of Texas at Austin ('90-'95). Balancing time between running his own petroleum/safety engineeing practice and his songwriting, J.R. is back on the live scene with the current edition of the band- a fusion of three regional bands from South Texas. Their first gig together was December 31, 1999. Since then, J.R. Castillo & Unwound has established itself as arguably, one of the strongest acts in Texas, despite it's short existence. |
