on a few songs, Aphex Twin or Orbital. Maybe FSOL in a way. Heck, I dunno. I'd love to sound like BT, in an non-derivative way.
    Artist History
Just a lover of music trying to sculpt some techno himself. Since there's not much history to his song-making (started in... oh, say December of 99), how about a history of his musical tastes? In the 80s, Greg was a huge Van Halen fan. Yes, he even dressed up as David Lee Roth for one Halloween around 1985. He was also into Bon Jovi, and in his lowest moment ever, Europe (anyone remember The Final Countdown? egad). Upon moving from Houston to Japan in 88, his tastes didn't change much, though it was around this time he first heard U2 (his dad got him a tape of the album War). In 91, when he returned Stateside, to Pennsylvania this time, he started getting into a lot of 80s rock, such as R.E.M., Simple Minds, Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, and finally, heavily into U2 around 1993-1994. He was also one of the four (yes, four) members of the classical music club in high school. He's not very experienced with it, but he enjoys a live performance or two now and again, especially Dvorak, Shostakovich, Wagner, Mahler, etc. It wasn't until he moved back to Houston in 1995 to attend Rice University that his tastes truly became diverse, however. It was at this point that he was introduced to electronic music by his roommate (mostly in the form of Orbital at first, hence Orbital's lasting impression) and also into the Who (by an online friend) and from there, on his own, into Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the blues, jazz, and various other genres. Ironically, his dad was into Pink Floyd and Led Zep for the longest time. Greg simply resisted them due to that fact. Ooops. That about sums it up, but after having been into mostly Orbital, FSOL, and Underworld for 3 years or so, Greg started getting into trance big time in 1998, mainly with BT. (gasp) Lately, he's gotten more into drum 'n' bass, some house and garage, and deeply into some nu-skool breaks. Always looking for new music styles, or new tracks in old styles that just scream "transcendent."

Starship Lifestream (11 tracks, 3 on this page -- go to the CD page for lo-fi previews of all, though), and soon, GFS Unchained (9 tracks currently, under construction). It's up now but the tracklisting is not complete.
    Press Reviews
"i'm listening to your stuff right now.. you have this really catchy, quirky electro pop, trance.. it's good.. i like it." -- Cerrelean (San Francisco DJ) summing up the twin "good"/"eh,s'okay" nature of my music, I think. (Dr. Jeckyl being my artistic/creative side, and Mr. Hyde being my horrible technologically-impaired software-synth-using side)
