Artist History
Formed in '93 in San Francisco with guitarist Nat Bletter and bassist Mike Deiner, they have gone through about as many drummers as Spinal Tap. Luckily none of them have spontaneuously combusted or choked on their own vomit, however. They been plugging away at creating their own random style of music since, and playing clubs, bathrooms, and street corners around San Francisco in the years since. |

Press Reviews
Our award for Demo Tape O' The Week in the San Francisco Bay Guardian: THE OPENING SONG of this tape -- a number called "Dirty Coffee" -- begins with a riff straight out of the Animals' "We Gotta Get out of This Place," then warps into something vaguely like the Stooges' "1969"; some snarly, template punk rock vocals promptly pitch in, and the song is off and running. Classic, for sure. The other tracks ain't bad either: "Durango" keeps a powerful cadence (tip o' the hat to bassist Mike Deiner and drummer Matt Ashley) while guitarist-mouthpiece Nat Bletter yelps out a tale of love lost, complete with the kind of tidy hook that sends heartbroken teens into rhapsodies of bitter sniveling. "Too Late/And It's Me" begins slower and more dolorously, in the tradition of -- will they speak to me if I say this? -- Eddie Vedder and company; then comes a drum roll and a segue into a burst of attitudinal, bluesy punk pop. These boys wear their myriad influences on their sleeves, which isn't necessarily a bad thing at a time when most bands' pantheons read Green Day, Green Day, and Green Day. |
