Artist History
For more than 15 years, Christopher Kent lived in New York City, sharpening his writing and performing skills as he appeared in clubs all across the New York area, including the Bitter End and the Bottom Line. During that time he also became a winner of the New York Songwriter's Competition, sponsored by the major music publishers of New York.Christopher has performed both as a solo act and with a 5-member backup band, opening for acts like Grammy Award-winner Janis Ian and Annie Haslam. He's appeared numerous times on New York and Philadelphia radio, including Gene Shays program on WHYY and Kid's Corner on WXPN.While in New York he created a unique and highly-praised songwriting course for New York's Discovery Center. The course ran for 5 years, and was repeatedly called "The best songwriting course in New York." Christopher is completing a book based on the course, which is currently being shopped to publishers.Christopher arranged and produced his first album, INTUITION, in his own in-home recording studio. A few years later, Christopher met award-winning producer Bill Kollar, and their mutual respect eventually led to Chris' second album, DOORWAY.Christopher has recently relocated to the Philadelphia area, where he continues to perform and record. |
