John Bourke and Brad Davis began their careers as CUBE in 2000. Before meeting, they had their own projects of AWAL(John Bourke) and MIMIC(Brad Davis). It was obvious when these two artists came together they would stir up some divine sounds pulling emotional feelings unlike any other. The two helped start an all LIVEPA crew/prod company entitled Vinyl Not Included. Inspired by the likes of Rabbit in the Moon, Uberzone, and Crystal Method, Vinyl Not Included is devoted to bringing the live elements into the club life. Live, Cube performs with various keyboards and samplers. Along with live vocals from the exotic Megan Paur, they have become well known artists as a force to be reckoned with.
The very first track created through the CUBE tag-team, "ACID RAIN", immediately brought a great amount of recognition. Posted on mp3.com, the track was discovered by Florida's Complex Records. Complex loved the track so much they offered CUBE a contract for 2 break releases. Success struck from the get go and there was definitely more to come. CUBE's second 12" release, "Watch The Break", was an instant smash played by some of Break's top DJs. Three weeks into the release over 800 copies had been sold. "Watch The Break" peaked at #7 on Satellite Record's (NYC) top 100. Watch the Break was also reviewed in BPM magazine. Their upcoming 3rd release "Through My Eyes" is already underway. The original is complete and the LA based LivePA Slyder (Moonshine) recently finished their Nu Wave/ Electroclash remix. The release is planned for summer 2003 on Area609's lable.
CUBE has now entered into multimedia soundtracking over the course of the last year. A sample of "Acid Rain" was used by MTV for a six month duration in 2002. The sample ran when the station crossed over to commercial breaks. Recently "Punk" was picked up for a behind the scenes look at the Matrix2: Reloaded which was played on the network ABC and heard by millions. CUBE has now signed the contracts from Warner Brothers for placing songs in the Matrix2: Reloaded DVD, The Animatrix, and the video game Enter the Matrix. Other soundtrack offers are still pouring in for multimedia such as commercials, movies, video games, and web sites but it is too soon in production to disclose.
CUBE also has residencies DJing rare and unreleased tunes on Final Scratch for clubs and radio stations across the south and bookings now spreading across the USA. John Bourke has now joined the Trance Mission Tour alongside X-Dream and Shawn Xzavier.
