Artist History
Art Imitates Life is lead by Chris Knowles, whose previous bands include Zero Gravity, Stiff Upper Lip, and the infamous cover band Rival. The bands 1st cd "Degenerate Art", was recorded Jan.-Oct. 2000 at Cygnus-X Studio in Thunder Bay. The disc features the heavier side of Chris' writing and playing style, with Chris recording most of the tracks himself. The music is a collision of rock influences featuring many diverse songs covering a wide variety of issues. In 2002, the cd "Handful of Dust" was released to critical acclaim. "Handful of Dust" takes the listener on an epic journey. Which brings us to the new 6 song cd titled "The Black Sea". Chris wrote and recorded a good portion the disc in spring 2002, right after a series of live shows with his band Zero Gravity. These gigs brought a good deal of live energy to the recordings resulting in A.I.L.'s most solid effort to date. The f1st track "Haunted Memories" slams from start to finish, while also showcasing a more melodic side to the band. Chris is hoping for some radio play on this one. The cd will be for sale on the web site or you can email chris at-knowlesc@tbaytel.net and he will send you a free promo copy. |
