Artist description
"Have you ever wondered where rock-n-roll went? Well, I've seen it rear it's ugly head and it's landed in my backyard. Believe me, this is a good thing. With all those disposable pampers out there recycling that new 'asshole' rock sound, it's refreshing to hear real rock from real instruments. Well, wipe your ass Central New York, cuz Sister Mitchell's gonna mess your pants! That's right folks, REAL ROCK. Remember it? It used to live here...years ago.I checked these guys out live and was found wanting more after the front woman (that's right guys) said the thank you's and goodnight's. I needed to hear more guitar riffs. I needed to hear more fat ass bass lines. I needed to feel that drum kit shake the floor. I needed to feel that voice message my ears then strangle my soul. I needed... well, let's just say that when you hear rock done like this, then you realize that you'd forgotten how much you missed it and you WILL end up needing it. You know that part of Alanis that rocks? Apply it. You know that part of Van Halen that used to rock? Apply it. You know that part of DeBarge that never rocked? DON'T apply it. What I'm trying to say is that Sister Mitchell applies the best part of both genres of rock. 80's sensibilities with a 90's foundation. Thank you Sister Mitchell, for putting the faith back into the church of rock. Keep rockin'! Let us pray." ~ Derrick Branigan, D.J. & Den Mother 98.7 WLZW |

Artist History
Cathleen Mann is formerly of New York City where she jammed with the likes of Exanimo (at CBGB's, The Pyramid Club and The Paladium) as well as Doremann and Strange Oceans. She has recorded 2 albums and as the lyricist for the band, Cathleen's poetic background contributes to each song weaving emotion and storytelling into meaning. This, combined with a rock & roll sound, gives each composition it's own identity allowing for a beginning and an end. She has also won a number of singing contests with her melodic powerful voice. Cathleen is very personable as she goes out of her way to get to know every person she can who comes out to see the band perform. A few of her musical influences are Heart, Collective Soul and Alanis Morrisette. Mitchell Hext's musical background goes way back having mastered his instrument for the past 14 years. (His musical influences are Al Dimeola, Gary Moore and John Petrucci just to name a few.) Mitch also has 2 albums under his belt and has logged numerous hours of studio time for various bands. His sexy stage presence and good looks draws an extremely large amount of women out on a consistent basis. Known for his passion for the guitar, he plays with fury, feeling and fast fingers! Sister Mitchell has been fortunate enough to perform with world reknowned bassist/recording artist/producer, Kasim Sulton. Kasim is known for his work with other legendary artists such as Todd Rundgren (Utopia), Meat Loaf and Richie Sambora, to name a few. Visit Sister Mitchell's official website for photos of Kasim performing with the band at the recent GoGirlsMusicFest2000 in Albany, NY. You many also see video footage of them at www.usgigtv.net. |

Press Reviews
"Sister Mitchell is a tight sounding four piece band that could be going places. Their promo CD features three original songs: "Corners of My Mind", "Hard to Believe" and "What it Takes" - which is my personal favorite. With a few well deserved breaks, these guys may no longer be just an exclusive to Central New York." ~ Bill Keeler Keeler in the Morning 107 WRCK "From the first few seconds of listening to Sister Mitchell's self titled E.P., it's easy to tell one thing...THESE PEOPLE CAN PLAY...AND SING! Cathleen Mann's vocal style is reminiscent of Ann Wilson (Heart) in her heyday. Musicwise, the band fuses classic rock melodies with a keen sense of modern rock. Few bands bridge the gap as well. Lyrically, Cathleen conveys a sense of the "darker side" of love and lust mixed with a strong sense of self as conveyed in "What it Takes", the leadoff track. Lines like "I am the light on the abandoned highway..." are sung with so much confidence, upon listening, one tends to believe it. "Corners of My Mind", track #2, is as imaginative as any of today's rock tunes. "Feel free to run your fingers over anything you find... in the corners of my mind..." is a standout line in the track, lending a sense of openess which seems to emerge in the lyrics of all 3 songs on the demo. "Hard to Believe" is a fine closing to the lyrical journey of the e.p., a track that sums up the band's efforts. In all, the production on this e.p. could use a beefing up, but the strong song base and thoughtful lyrics stand on their own. It will be fun to watch this band grow on future releases, if the project stands the test of time in an unforgiving local music scene like the one in Central New York, but being outside of Syracuse and Utica could be a blessing for this 4 piece." ~ "Silent" Bob Backstage Live/KRock |
