Artist History
Marks' interest in music began back in 1965 at the age of 7, when he & his brother Ken took the metal base off of the family globe and used it to complete their first drum set using a snare drum and the bottom of the globe as a cymbal. Growing up in Windsor, Mark was exposed to the Motown explosion coming out of Detroit in that era, such as the Supremes, The Temptations, The Jackson 5, as well as all of the great new music being played on "The Big 8" CKLW radio waves back in the 1960's & 70's. Mark has drummed for numerous bands in the Windsor/Detroit area and has over 25 years experience in the music business. Now his passion is songwriting, recording, and sharing his music with fans around the world. |

Press Reviews
Sue Braiden of CBC Radio says "Mark Hewer is a gentle, passionate and gifted composer. Even better, he's from my hometown, Windsor, in Canada. "Daybreak" is a touching instrumental, one of several beautiful pieces in Hewer's repertoire. His ability to collaborate (have a listen to "Sea of Emotion") is likely the product of his experience as a drummer for various bands on the circuit. Hewer's got much more than just a knack for rhythm. His ability to create well-textured scores is almost poetic, not getting caught in the trap of forumla songs. He adroitly crosses genres, moving as easily through instrumentals and vocal pop pieces as he does the jazzy, delicious little piano riffs (What's Up), and even a gorgeous chamber piece (Walkerville Times). Mark Hewer's scores are shapeshifters -- melodically layered journeys that are a delight to take." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Here's what the critics at Hitsession.com say about Marks' new song 'Friends Like These' - Cait: This song begins with a beautiful piano solo. It reminds me of somthing "E" or the "Eels" would do. MC: There's a part in this instrumental song that sounds a lot like "Bridge Over Troubled Water." Cait: This is a very pretty song. I love the piano. MC: I agree, this is the kind of music I like to listen to while I'm trying to relax. Cait: Yes, when I need something to relax to, I'd listen to this. Green light. MC: Green light. |
