Artist description Infradig Ensemble plays jazz, funk, and whatnot. Joshua Caleb Green (drums, percussion, kazootube), David Kaufmann (electric and upright bass), and Andrew Hobbs (guitar, thumptube) unite in musical vision: creating a music that defies traditional categorization while always adhering to an underlying groove. While drawing from primarilly jazz-oriented influences, the band doses out large portions of funk and latin, bits of organic techno, smidgeons of rock, and large smoking chunks of whatnot. Infradig Ensemble is a certain rebellion to postmodern musical mediocrity. The band's vision is to create an innovative music that can transcend cultural limitations by way of the groove. From plastic-tubed compositions to sheer chopsy musicianship, the band is a vehicle for the creative personality of its inhabitants. Infradig Ensemble is based out of historic and scenic Chattanooga, TN, and has been compared to the likes of fellow artists of the new jazz rennassaince such as Medeski, Martin, and Wood and Charlie Hunter. The band has just completed their second CD, Finally Muirhead, and has perfomed with artists such as Col. Bruce Hampton and the Fiji Mariners, Vigilantes of Love, Tiny Town, and Waterdeep.
