Artist History
Gary Private started out in New York City as a drummer playing the club circuit continuing on to front his own band. Signing a recording contract as singer songwriter, Gary went on to record with producer Fred Munao's Select Records. Within a year Gary was picked up by Atlantic Records which released a remake of the Four Tops song "Reach Out, I'll Be There." The next record on Atlantic was "Secret Love" which featured original songs written by Gary. Following this release, Gary was featured on "American Bandstand", "Playboy's Girls of Rock-N-Roll", Walt Disney's "Flight of the Navigator", daytime soaps "One Life To Live" and rocketed to the top of "Billboard Magazine's Top Album and Single picks."
Gary has been backed by some of the greatest musicians around like: The O-Jays, "T.M.Stevens" on bass, David Bowie's "Arno Hecht" on sax, Steely Dan's "Elliott Randall" on guitar, Meatloaf's"Bob Kulick" on guitar, all round musician and producer Elliott Glenn Zaslansky , guitarist Steve Restaino and probably one the greatest all time Rock-N-Roll bass players; "Kenny (Double A) Aaronson". He's also worked with producer's Steve Tyrell w/Barry Mann,David Kitay,Allan Landon and Rick Knowles.
Gary has written songs such as:
Secret Love, Don't Go Walking In The Dark, Waiting For You, Caught Up In Los Angeles, Crawling From Love, Hard To Be A Man, Italian Boyz, The Shadow, I Don't Feel, Homerun, Desperately, Left Her Crying, Come Back Suzy, Manhattan Elite.
Gary also recorded Reach Out I'll Be There, Love Is For Suckers, Lonely Hearts and Fire In My Heart.
Gary has also done jingles and session work on both coasts. In 1985 he moved to Los Angeles where he currently resides.
Gary is available for session work as well as jingles. He also has songs available for movie and television soundtracks and source music.
